More exciting news last week for everyone involved with GMCT and Morton FC. Our Summer Camps were officially launched on Wednesday and then we made the front page of the Greenock Telegraph on Thursday. On Tuesday there was even more official business to take care of when Tom Elliott, Community Engagement Manager visited Newark Care Centre in Port Glasgow with one of our recently appointed coaches, Ewan McLean.
Both had been invited by Mary Macgee, Care Centre Manager to join the staff and residents as they celebrated their 10th anniversary. It was in May 2012 that Newark Care Centre became the primary sponsor for the Youth Academy at Morton FC headed up by Warren Hawke. Newark Care Centre are the kit sponsor and their name is printed on both the front and back of all strips worn by the u13, u14, u15 and u17 teams. Mary firmly believes that both Morton FC and Newark Care Centre play an important part in the community of Inverclyde.
Tom and Ewan presented Mary, staff and residents of Newark Care Centre with a framed Youth Academy strip that had been signed by all the first team players at Morton FC. Mary duly accepted saying “we shall find pride of place to display this strip so that everyone who visits can see it”.
Tom commented “it was lovely to visit Newark Care Centre today and we look forward to working with the residents in the future and giving something back as a way of thanks for the sponsorship that the Youth Academy has received”.
Newark Care Centre is run by London based company, Danshell who were delighted to support both the club and the community over the last year by their sponsorship of the Youth Academy teams.
