Busy times for GMCT this week as we are now just a week away from the start of our summer camps which are running in Inverclyde and Dunoon during the holidays. There is still some preparing to do this week and we caught up with Tom Elliott, Community Engagement Manager as he gets ready for the next six weeks. Tom told us “I am delighted with the programmes that we are able to offer this summer and especially pleased with the partnerships we have formed while developing these camps”.
The camps are for 4-15 year olds and will are running in conjunction with the SFA, Inverclyde Council, Active Schools/Sports Development Inverclyde and Dunoon Youth Football League. There is an exclusive ‘girls only camp’ w/c 22nd July at Battery Park which Corrie Campbell, Scottish FA Girls & Women Club DO is thrilled about.
Elliott added “I’m holding an in-service day this Thursday for all the coaches in preparation for the camps. To be honest l can’t wait for Monday to arrive and get started delivering our summer camp programme. These are exciting times for everyone involved with GMCT, not only myself, the coaches but also all the children that are going to join us this summer. I’m delighted that this summer l’m going back to my roots and getting the chance to work with the kids – that’s where my passion lies”.
This is a first for us at GMCT but for Tom it’s a normal busy summer as he’s been delivering football camps for over a decade. His community coaching background is the best in Scotland so we can’t wait to see what he has planned for our kids in Inverclyde and Dunoon this summer.
There is still time to book up and grab your child’s place on our camps. This is a great opportunity for children between the ages of 4 and 15 to come along this summer and enjoy our unique camp experience. There will be many themed days and everyone who attends will receive a certificate for completing the camp and a small gift.
