Busy times for GMCT staff this week as we are now just days away from the start of our Easter camps which are running at Wemyss Bay PS, Inverclyde Academy and Port Glasgow Community Campus during the holidays.  There is still some preparing to do this week and we caught up with Tom Elliott, Community Engagement Manager as he gets ready for the next two weeks.  Tom told us “I am delighted with the programmes that we are able to offer this Easter and especially pleased with the partnerships we have created since our first ever camp last summer”.

The camps are for 2-15 year olds and will are running in conjunction with the SFA, Inverclyde Leisure and Active Schools/Sports Development Inverclyde.  Not only are we expanding the number of venues but we are also including out pre-school children to join our camps at Inverclyde Academy and Port Glasgow Community Campus.

Elliott added “We held an in-service day on Wednesday at Cappielow for all the coaches in preparation for the camps.  To be honest l can’t wait for Monday to arrive and get started delivering our Easter camp programme.  These are exciting times for everyone involved with GMCT, not only myself, the coaches but also all the children that are going to join us this Easter.  Once again I’m delighted that this Easter l’ll be delivering sessions and getting back to my roots, working with the kids – that’s where my passion lies”.

This is our first Easter camp for us at GMCT but for Tom it’s a normal busy Easter as he’s been delivering football camps for over a decade.  His community coaching background is the best in Scotland so we can’t wait to see what he has planned for our kids in Inverclyde this Easter.  As it’s the World Cup this year we have been delighted to receive sponsorship for our World Cup bibs ahead of our camps from R.J.M. Sports Ltd.  (pictured below is Robert Marshall, Managing Director, R.J.M. Sports Ltd in Falkirk)

There is still time to book up and grab your child’s place on our camps.  This is a great opportunity for children between the ages of 2 and 15 to come along this Easter and enjoy our unique camp experience.  There will be many themed days and everyone who attends will receive a certificate for completing the camp and a small gift.
