This Friday we wave goodbye to one of our valued members of staff, Melissa Dickinson. Melissa joined the Community Trust on the 6th January 2014 as our first Admin Assistant through Community Jobs Scotland (CJS).
During Melissa’s 18th month contract, her role within the Community Trust office was to support all management staff but she also became an integral part of the team producing registers for all weekly sessions and holiday camps. Melissa especially enjoyed the school holidays as she got out in the community, assisting the coaches at the camps and taking photos of the children who are involved with the Community Trust.
Melissa has relished her time with the Community Trust saying, “No two days are the same. I was given the opportunity to gain experience in the office environment but I also got out and about at the camps to see how they operated and enjoyed the matchday experience at Morton FC especially when we teamed up with the Foodbank last season”.
Not only has Melissa been working in the office but during her time she has gained a First Aid qualification, completed a Customer Service Course delivered by World Host and achieved an SVQ Level 2 in Business & Administration.
Community Jobs Scotland (CJS) is an employability programme aimed at supporting unemployed and vulnerable young people aged 16-24 into employment. CJS creates paid job training opportunities through the Third Sector and is delivered by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) in partnership with the Scottish Government. More information can be found on the Employability in Scotland website.
As my mentor once said, “It’s a sad day but a happy day” and it will be for myself on Friday. I have seen Melissa grow in confidence and develop her admin skills throughout this 18 month contract and I will personally miss Melissa when she leaves. I am proud that she has gained access to West College Scotland starting in August where she will complete the National 5 Health Care course, the start of another new chapter for her. Melissa is also working with Branchton Youth Club.
Thank you Melissa. Everyone involved with the Community Trust and Morton FC wishes you every success with your future studies.
