We kick off another exciting, new programme this week at Cappielow in which we welcome Primary 5s from All Saints and Kings Oak Primary to participate in the Greenock Morton Literacy Trail. The Literacy Trail is a programme created by Links Park Community Trust at Montrose FC, Morton in the Community bring this programme to Inverclyde through the support of the European Football for Development Network’s One Goal for Education Project and UEFA Foundation for Children.
Created and developed in line with the Curriculum for Excellence the Literacy Trail offers participants an alternative learning experience as they will attend Cappielow to learn about Literacy/Language through the context of the day to day running of a professional football club. For example, participants will develop an understanding of the appropriate use of Open and Closed questions by taking part in a press conference, the children will take on the role of the new signing, or the first team manager and answer questions from the gathering media in the Cappielow Board Room. Both schools will engage with Morton in the Community for 5 weeks and have the opportunity to play on the excellent Cappielow surface as there will be a Fun Football activity session to compliment the classroom learning.
Everyone at Morton FC are looking forward to welcoming pupils and teachers to Cappielow in the coming weeks.
