Morton in the Community have been awarded £30,932 from Young Start delivered by the Big Lottery Fund to engage and invest in 48 young people aged 16 to 24 living in Inverclyde, over the next 2 years.
The purpose of the Morton Community Volunteer Internship is to offer young people an opportunity to gain qualifications, skills and experiences whilst engaging the participants in our football and hockey projects.
Young People engaging in our innovative project will be offered SFA Level 1.1 – 1.3 qualifications, Emergency First Aid, Customer Service training specific to the role of a Morton Community project worker and access to unlimited volunteering opportunities.
The legacy of our project and investment in young volunteers is they will begin their journey on our coaching pathway, which is a tangible ladder to further opportunities within Morton Community. In turn, having a larger impact on an increased number of participants in our football and hockey projects. Our coaching pathway was recognised as excellent practice when gaining the Investors in Young People award in 2015.
There will be no entry criteria to the Morton Community Volunteer Internship except for age and residence at an Inverclyde post code. Whilst the project schedule is still in the planning stage we intend to release further information in due course. This includes engaging like-minded organisations working with young people in Inverclyde.
