Over the past two Sunday’s Cappielow held host to two Morton Community tournaments with 319 boys and girls participating. Participating teams included Pollock United, Port Glasgow Juniors, Port Glasgow Boys Club, St Andrews and Ardgowan to name a few. Teams competed in 4 aside, 5 aside and 7 aside matches on the hallowed Cappielow surface.
Blair Kelly, Morton Boys Project Worker, commented: “I’m absolutely delighted with our two days at the Cappielow tournament. I want to offer an enormous thank you to all the teams, parents and coaches that attended and we hope to have everyone back again next year.”
Once the hard work and graft of ensuring two smooth and successful days were over the parents and coaches took to the field for a friendly match. In which the coaches ran out 4-3 winners.
In a humbling gesture to our late community coach Kris Juszczak, the Cappielow tournament raised over £200 which will be donated to Ardgowan Hospices Butterfly project, which supported Kris earlier in his life.
