Thursday evenings at Cappielow is an opportunity for ladies to enjoy a blether, a tea or coffee and some exercise.
There is one theme: ‘It’s your night.’
Ladies Night began as an aftercare project to Football Fans in Training and grew arms and legs since. Led by Laura Williamson, Morton Girls Project Worker, Gemma Stewart, Morton Community Coach, and Gillian Hughes, Morton Community Volunteer and Active Schools Inverclyde co-ordinator, Cappielow has become a hub or activity and socialising on Thursday nights.
Participants choose their activities on a week to week basis which has included yoga, circuits and netball to name a few. This week (Thursday 21st September) ladies night will be at Greenock Sports Centre for badminton.
Laura Williamson, Morton Girls Project Worker: “Ladies night is really enjoyable. We’re offering likeminded women an opportunity to engage in sport in a comfortable, friendly environment.
“We have an open door policy and welcome anyone interested in coming along to get in touch.”
Participant comments:
“I achieved weight loss without having to pay a slimming world/weight watchers club. The exercise and combined knowledge as well as the support from the group has helped me sustain the right will power to keep on going.”
“I noticed a difference in my fitness as the weeks went on. I was able to try different activities in a supportive environment with other women.”
