The #Morton50DayChallenge encourages fundraisers to get active while fundraising for Morton in the Community and causes close to their hearts. The challenge begins on Thursday 5 April with a 5k walk or jog around the Cappielow pitch.
Fundraisers are encouraged to walk, swim, jog or cycle 5k a day for five of seven days per week for fifty days. Last year, fundraisers raised a staggering £3,195.40, with fifty per cent of this figure being split with a charity of their choice. Including Cancer Research, Ardgowan Hospice, Bowel Cancer UK and Epilepsy Scotland to name a few.
You can sign up to the #Morton50DayChallenge by contacting admin@mortoncommunity.net and visiting our Just Giving event page http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising-page/creation/?cid=250879&eid=4626178.
The #Morton50DayChallenge aims to complement our 5th birthday fundraising events and activities including our charity dinner on 31 March and golf event on 15 April to generate valuable resources for Morton in the Community’s future development.
Gordon McKillop, operations manager at Morton in the Community: “Last year’s challenge was a great success. £3,195.40 is a fantastic sum of money and gives us a handsome target to try and exceed.
“The fifty percent we benefitted from last year contributed to the creation of the Greenock Morton Numeracy Trail, part funded by Tesco Bags of Help. We will begin delivering this project in April as we continue to finalise the project with Inverclyde Council’s attainment challenge team.
“Fundraising is becoming an increasingly crucial aspect of our business with many local and national economic uncertainties ahead.
“Approximately 4% of our turnover in 2016 was generated through fundraising, gifts and donations. We hope to increase this figure to support our continued impact in Inverclyde.”
