It was a season to remember for our Senior team as they clinched a league and cup double, having completed the league campaign with a 100% record.Having started preparations back in December 2018, the goal for the season was promotion, and everything else was a bonus. Head Coach Gary Forbes assembled a fairly new squad which included a mixture of experienced and new players within the senior game.
The first piece of silverware arrived on 31st May 2019 as the Seniors travel to Ainslie Park, Spartans to take on Dryburgh Athletic in the SWFL Division 2 Cup. Having started the game brightly and taking a 2-goal lead, the Seniors where pegged back as Dryburgh brought it back to 2-2. With extra-time almost complete, up steps Laura Darroch to score a wonder goal from around 30 yards to seal the cup for the seniors.
After the cup success, it was back to league business for Gary Forbes’ side with the main aim of promotion still a possibility. An unbeaten run continued and the seniors were presented with the league trophy on Sunday 29th September with an impressive record of: played 14, won 14, scored 105 goals and conceded 4.
A fitting end to the season was the last goal of the league campaign as Laura Darroch emulated that strike from the cup final and capped off a truly outstanding season for the Seniors.
Congratulations to all the players and coaches for all the hard work and commitment throughout the season which has been rewarded with success.
Thanks to Arnold Clark for their continued support.
