YOUNG footballers in Inverclyde are looking smart thanks to a four-figure donation from Costa Coffee.

Morton in the Community (MITC) recently received a £1,000 donation from the popular coffee chain as part of its community programme.

MITC uses the power of football and the Morton badge to engage their local community, delivering 27 unique programmes to over 1,400 people each week.

These programmes include Football for All, More than Football and Morton Community Club.

Brian McLaughlin, MITC's chief executive, says the funds will allow the charity to kit out youngsters with new kit, training equipment and winter jackets.

“We are incredibly grateful to Costa Coffee for their generous donation," he said.

"This support has enabled us to purchase new strips, winter jackets and additional training equipment, which are essential for the programmes we deliver.

"With this funding, we can continue to empower our community through football, making a real difference to those who attend.”

Jo Jennings, community co-ordinator at Costa Coffee, added: “We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the incredible work being done by Morton in the Community.

"We recognise the dedication and passion that sports clubs bring to their local areas, and we are proud to be extending a helping hand to sporting groups across the nation through our Community Grants programme.”

The programme allows team members to nominate deserving causes in their region. This year, the donation has been increased from £500 to £1,000.
