Join Us as a Treasurer at Morton in the Community SCIO 

About Us 

Operating across Inverclyde, our charity provides a range of exciting projects across the areas of Football, Leadership, Physical and Mental Health. We have won several community awards and accolades for our work and have had some massive successes in making a difference to vulnerable people's lives. At present we deliver over 25 programmes to approx. 1400 participants per week aged between 18 months to 85 years plus.

Our project areas include Football for All, Morton Community Club and More than Football.

Role Overview 

As our Treasurer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Morton in the Community SCIO. You will oversee our financial management, reporting, and planning, ensuring that we can continue to support our community and ensure we are The Heartbeat of Inverclyde.  

Key Responsibilities: 

- Oversee day to day accounting records prepared by staff member on Xero checking accuracy of these bank, debtor, creditor, payroll and project control accounts. Allocation of grants received to correct projects and allocate to relevant period. 

- Adjust ledgers quarterly by accruals and prepayments and from adjusted records and prepare monthly management accounts. 

- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and financial statements. 

- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and guidelines. 

- Responsibility for processing bank transfers to pay staff and PAYE monthly from payroll prepared by external payroll bureau. 

- Liaise with external auditors and manage the annual audit process. 

- Provide financial advice to the board and support strategic planning. 

- Monitor cash flow and manage financial risks. 

- Ensure OSCR compliance – submission of OSCR Return in a timely manner. 

- Attend Finance Subgroup Meetings and Bi-Monthly Trustee Meetings. 

What We're Looking For: 

- Proven experience in financial management, accounting, or a similar role. 

- Strong knowledge of financial regulations in the Charity sector and best practices. 

- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. 

- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite. 

- Strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information clearly.
