Morton in the Community's 'Boots and Pieces' Programme Receives Funding Boost from National Lottery Awards for All Scotland

27/03/2025

Morton in the Community (MITC) is thrilled to announce that its 'Boots and Pieces' programme has been awarded funding from The National Lottery Awards for All Scotland for two more years. This support will allow MITC to host collection points, roadshows, and swap shops in Inverclyde, providing football boots and sporting equipment to children who need them most.

The 'Boots and Pieces' programme helps remove financial barriers to participation in football by providing sportswear and equipment to young people. With the new funding, MITC will expand the initiative across Inverclyde, creating more opportunities for kids to get involved in sports.

Collection points and Swap Shops will be set up in key community spaces across the region, where families can donate used football boots or swap them for items their children need. In addition to this, if you are unable to donate any items you are more than welcome to take any items you may need.

Brian McLauglin, MITC Chief Executive, "To receive the news that Boots and Pieces will be funded for the next two years is fantastic and will allow us to further support our community. We understand the pressure on attending sport and physical activity and Boots and Pieces helps to remove some of these barriers. Additionally, Boots and Pieces will help us improve our carbon footprint as we aim to reduce, reuse and recycle sports kit and equipment."

A Boots & Pieces participant said, “Boots and Pieces is an Excellent initiative to normalise kids to using pre-loved items of clothing, not only for the financial impact on their parents, but also for sustainability and the environment”

Our project was made possible thanks to #NationalLottery players.
