MORTON IN THE COMMUNITY HOSTS EID CELEBRATION AT CAPPIELOW PARK

Morton in the Community hosted a special Eid celebration meal at Cappielow Park on Monday evening. The event brought together members of the local community and participants from various MitC projects to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan.

The event provided an opportunity for people of all backgrounds from across Inverclyde to connect and celebrate together. Morton in the Community believes in fostering inclusivity and strengthening community bonds, and this event is a reflection of that commitment. Around 18 people enjoyed a delicious meal, expertly catered by First Choice Catering Inverclyde.

"We are thrilled to have hosted this Eid celebration and welcomed everyone to Cappielow," said Brian McLaughlin, Chief Executive at Morton in the Community. "Eid is a time of joy and togetherness, and we wanted to create a welcoming space for everyone to celebrate and share in the festivities."

Morton in the Community is committed to making a positive impact in the local area and is proud to celebrate diversity and bring people together.

“We host our annual Christmas lunch, and run our Easter camps and mark those moments in the calendar,” Brian continued. “Our ‘Off the Bench’ project recently ended its block, and some of our Muslim participants couldn’t celebrate with us because they were observing Ramadan so it got us thinking. It’s been lovely to learn and hear more about the traditions around Ramadan and Eid.”
